Okay, is this them, might have missed some:

Arthur Buck, 40, b. Norfolk (Arthur Edward, maybe died in Staines in 1922 aged 60).
Mary, 35 (Mary Ethel Johnson, m. 1883?)
Gertrude, 12 (Gertrude Louisa)
Ethel, 10 (Ethel Lucy, may have married in Staines in 1917)
Henry, 8 (Henry William)
Agnes, 7 (Agnes Lydia)
Arthur, 5, (Arthur Sidney)
Elsie, 3 (Elsie Evelyn - maybe died 1915 in Hackney?)
Frederick, 1 (Frederick Charles - maybe married 1919 in Staines?)

Now, Ethel Lucy Buck m. Virgil H. Hoare, and there is a son Thomas A. b. 1917 on freebmd, but only one child, so I went looking for them:
BC bmds:
http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-19A3250/gbsearch/Births,Marriages,Deaths
Virgil Hanson Hoare, d. 1971 aged 83 (Coquitlam)
Ethel Lucy Hoare, d. 1977 aged 86 (Abbotsford)
possible son Thomas Arthur Hoare, d. 1986 aged 68 (Hope)

Could Ethel Lucy Hoare nee Buck be your 'Dolly'?

Wow, thanks Jorose and Karen, This is starting to look very interesting. Just goes to show that family stories get a bit distorted.

Jorose, yes that is the family. You mised one Ernest Arthur Buck b June Q 1884.

There was also another child Florence Maud who was born before Arthur Buck married Mary Johnson. Her birth was registered as Florence Maud B Johnson in 1882 and she lived with an aunt until she got married in 1905.

Karen your record of this pair travelling to Canada in 1919 fits well with family history ( at least this part seems reasonble).

I need to study all this and take it all in, but it seems to be all very feasible. I cannot thank you enough for your help as I seemed to be going absolutely nowhere.

Yes that was a brilliant bit of searching, certainly working out of the box that I was stuck in.
Incredibly I had just last week checked out a marriage of a Doris Buck in BC through the RAOGK. The wrong person but the right area. I will now ask for any details of the deaths found by Jorose, and take it from there, but it all looks very good.
Sincere thanks to Jorose and Karen plus all the others. It just goes to show how the teamwork on RootsChat really does work.

I felt the tap on the shoulder and will pick up the three death records tomorrow. I haven't studied the thread in detail but assume there are only three which are shown in reply 10 for the moment?
