help with uniform please

Hi

Can anyone help identify the uniform in this photo please.  I understand it might be the Royal Field Artillery but would appreciate as much info as possible.

The chap in question died in 1918 but I do not know when this was taken.

Yes, Royal Artillery looks fair enough.

It's a nice view of the proficiency badge on his right arm - the "L" signifies Gun Layer I believe.

He has one good conduct chevron on his left arm (so he has at least a couple of years service behind him) and there's also perhaps the suggestion of a badge above the chevron.
