Thank you.  :)

Does anyone know if there is any place that could help me to find the Shaw Brothers?

There is proof that they definitely arrived in June 1903 in Montreal, Canada, but then they disappeared.

I do not know what to do or search next.  I am confused about them disappearing.

Thank you for everyone's help so far.

Ok, they not only landed in Montreal, it looks as though they were planning on staying there.

If you find them, you can track them in Montreal, up to 1977.

Hello Janice,

Thank you for all this information and advice, this is so much appreciated, as I seem to be at an end to finding them, so this gives some hope again.

I've taken a look at the Montreal Directories.  This is a fantastic site, which does seem to have alot of information on streets, businesses etc.

I have found quite a few wire manufacturing businesses which they could have applied for a job at one of these, but not sure how you find that information out.

I will take a good look and read through as much as I can, and hope that I can find some trace.  I know this will probably be a timely thing, but I'm hoping one day I can trace them.

Thank you again

Heidi :)

If you do find them in the directories, and you know what religion they are, you can check the directories for the nearest churches. Unfortunately, Quebec did not start registering BMD's until quite recently.

You can also use the directories against the 1911 Census to eliminate the Joseph's and/or James' that aren't yours.

Thank you so much for all your help and information Janice.

I'm finding the information that you have given me is so very interesting to read.  It doesn't even have to involve Joseph or James, just the history fascinates me.   :)

Hopefully I might find something of them along the way.

Thanks again

Heidi
