hello fred
In 1861 at Stone Row, Lumphinnans,
parents were William (41) and Janet (37) Penman and their three children Jean (14), Christian (7), James (5) and Ann (11months).
Ten years later they were at West mains, Bothkennar, Stirling where Christina (17) was the eldest, James and Ann were there too. There were two additional children Maggie (5) and Cathrine (3).
I have not checked the 1881 Census.

Christian/Christina Penman is my great grandmother.  She married Charles Hogg in 1878 at Bothkennar.

I have not found a Robert as you can see but like you I have a direct link to a Christian Penman  :)

Hope we can connect.  Do let me know.

Hello fred,
Strang is not a surname I have come across.  My William married Janet Syme at Innverkeithing in Fife in 1852.

William Penman, I have, as being baptised in Clackmannan in 1820 seemingly the 11th of 13 children. Parents were Michael Penman and Mary Bauchop - her surname is spelled differently wherever you look  :) :).

It may be worth following up PENMAN topic messages on ROOTSCHAT on the Clackmannan and Stirling Boards as well - if you havn't already done so.
