A few questions

A few things have come up in my tree recently that perhaps a few of you could shed some light on?

First of all, if the occupation of my ancestor is an 'Artistic worker'  any idea what this is in general? I was thinking that perhaps, because he was from Lisburn he could be one of the designers of patterns in the mill.. or perhaps a sign writer.. just guesses!

Also, on another branch of the tree, a man who possibly is my great great grandfather is living with his sister in the 1911 census. However, he is listed as being 'single' yet at this stage he would more likely be a widower... is it normal for this to happen? Do you think it could still be him?
