Sorry, I checked in the library today but they only had the electoral rolls up to 1914-15 and then from 1925.

In 1914-15 the resident of number 2 was John Roberts.

It needs a check in the Archives - can't go this week, but if no-one else can get the answer for you, I'll try and go next week.

Many thanks for your help Bevbee......it is possible that my occupant of number 2 could have been sharing the house with John Roberts.  I suppose that it is also possible that John could be her husband...  I would really appreciate some further information though.   My ancester's name was Margaret Jenkins. :)

not much point in looking for a woman on the electoral role in 1917   -  the act giving some women the vote wasn't passed until the following year.

Any ideas on finding out then, Osprey?

Sorry to sound negative, didn't want you to waste your time.
If she was still be there in 1925 and over 30 she might be on the register?  What's the likelihood of her being in a post office or similar directory?

Thanks Osprey.  :)

WexDor, I'll try the 1925/26 roll as Osprey suggests. Don't know about the other directories - I'll see what else is available.

Thanks Bevbee!   Since starting this query, some further research has indicated that Margaret Jenkins married William Koepky in 1920 .....I'm not sure whether she was still occupying 2 Uplands Terrace at that time.  There seems to be more to this than I first realised ;D
