Hi Christine

Thank you anyway.  I'm still having problems but have found a VERY circuitous route into the censuses.

I have just tried to find a 1926 marriage for SMITH on the full GRO index and been told there are no entries - yeah!!

I have the same problem with the BMD full indexes but can get into it by first selecting a year then the qtr, then the first letter of surname.

It's a bit time consuming as you have to guess approx which page no the name will be on.

I've just received a reply from the technical support exactly the same as the one mentioned earlier.

THis is the fourth day I have not been able to access Ancestry.co.uk or Ancestry.com.  Are any of you experiencing this for so long a period.  Whatever is wrong must be serious if they cannot get back to normal

Hi

I can get in - but not by my usual method (ie) www.ancestry.co.uk.  I rang them today and according to a very charming American gentleman - he thought everything was back to normal!!

When I told him that the full GRO index was returning Nil results on BMD's for Smith and Jones - he checked and was astounded as it did the same on him!!

Heres how I get in - hope it works.  It's a nuisance though

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/locality/dbpage.aspx?tp=3257&p=3251

Under - England Historical Records click on "view all 11 England Census & Voter Lists" to get the 1841 census up

Under - England Birth, Marriage & Deaths - click on "view all 68 England Birth, Marriage & Deaths" to access the full GRO index

Bingo,  Carole.  I was wanting to add to my Family Tree and was able to get onto it using the site you gave.  That is a relief . A big thank you and I hope that Ancestry gets itself sorted out
 Best regards

It's doing strange things  :P I wanted to attach a census record to my tree and pressed back to record at the top of the page to do so and the record there was completely different and for another family than the census I was looking at. So I went back did the steps again from scratch found the family looked at the census backed out and it did it again  ??? :o :o :o
