Hello

Yes we have all the census info that appears to be available 1871, 1881 (Arthur) marriages for both Arthur & son Walter (though no proper dates). That is all. This is why I am asking for a PR look up which might include some accurate dates. This is how we found Arthur snr bap record, in Bramfield PR

Personally I would go for the birth certs.

To look for a christening you really need to know what parish it took place in. There is no guarantee they were christened, or at what age this took place if it did, and clergy rarely provided a date of birth. So if it is accurate dates you are after, the certs are the best step forward.

If we can find the rest of the family in 1881, it might indicate if there were later children. I take it you only found Arthur too.
Do you know when Arthur senior and Helena died? Should they be around in 1891?

I believe Peckham is the town of Arthur's birth.

What happened to the family after 1871 I don't know. His brother Walter is recorded as marrying Eliza Ann Bell on 30/101899 at St Johns Church Grimsby. He and his crew perished 25/4/1915 when his trawler Horatia struck a mine whilst fishin in the North Sea  His daughter is still alive at 103, but sadly unable to help in regard to her uncle Arthur!

Unfortunately I don't know when Arthur snr and Helena passed away. They are a very elusive family!

I still have no success in finding the rest of them in 1881. Walter must be alive, if he married in 1899.

They are not with the inlaws. Helena's parents William and Eliza (HO107 1567 419 18 in 1851 with one yr old Helena) are still around in 1881 (RG11 540 90 25) but no stray Haines grandchildren with them.

Thanks for your help

Some families were very compliant with the censae, others it seems were not so. Perhaps Arthur snr didn't like the idea of giving away personal info!

I thought this sounded familiar! Just realised that I found Eliza Haines nee Bell and her baby staying with her Bell rellies in Grimsby in 1901 on your Bell thread!
