Jane Lewis b 1837 Pontrobert or Meifod
« on: Thursday 13 November 08 19:07 GMT (UK) »
Jane Lewis aged 28 (1837)  married Aaron Edwards in 1865 register office Oswestry.  I'm having a bit of trouble tracing either of them back.  I think Aaron was slightly older than he admits on the wedding cert, 40 and maybe so was Jane.

1865 marriage details

Jane Lewis 28 (1837) spinster, dom serv - father Francis Lewis, master miller
Aaron Edwards 40 (1825)  bachelor, farm lab - father Edward Edwards journeyman shoemaker
both living at Maesbury Marsh.
witnesses:   Thomas Williams and Sarah Bennion.

1871  RG10/2780/36/14  Bit mistrancsribed -  in Morton

Marin (Aron) Edwards 49 (1822) lab b Oswestry
Jane 39 (1832) b Pontrobert
Elizabeth 5
Mary 3
Ann 9 (mths)
Francis 9 (mths)
Edward Edwards 86 (1785) shoemaker b Baschurch (not clear)
Elizabeth Edwards 84 (1787) b Llanyblodwell

On the young Francis birth certificate in 1870 his father is down as a miller's assistant.

1876 Aaron dies
1880 Jane marries John Drayton

1881 Jane is still in Morton aged 48 birthplace Meifod.
1887 Jane dies

This is all I have of her, and I wondered if anyone could find her with family.

Heywood, I think I have Aaron Edwards with parents, he had a brother Stephen according to the IGI and I have him in 1841 aged 20 with parents Edward 45 and Elizabeth 40.

In 1851 I think I find both Aaron and Stephen in Willenhall Staffe, Aaron an ag lab and Stephen a miner.  Back with parents Edward 55 and Elizabeth 50 is g'son Thomas Edwards 2.
By 1861 the parents seem to have aged by 20 years.

BUT  -  I think you have found the Lewis family !!!!!!!!!  How wonderful.

I have looked and looked for a Jane with father Francis both England and Wales.  I can't believe you have done this!

Yes I saw the Willenhall one and then went off to look for Edward and Elizabeth (hadn't noticed them before on your post).

Yes I would say that is the family but not sure re Jane in 1861.

best wishes
