Hi
Army Service Corps did a variety of jobs to support the frontline infantry. They supplied the ammo forward,All food and rations would be supplied by them all sorts of repairs carried out etc.
They were a massive set up serving in all theatres of war
I think DM2 was motor transport so he could have been a driver shifting kit around

Class Z was the reserve category he went into at the end of the war ..if it restarted he would be recalled.

My father was in ASC and I have tried to locate his Military Personnel Record to see where he fought in France.  I tried Free Ancestry and a Rootchatter looked in Ancestry without luck.  I would try it though as you may find him.
