Hi Elaine,

Sorry I can't find any record for a Mary Doyle in the Newbattle Book which covers the Newbattle Old Churchyard. I believe there is also another cemetery - maybe the local council will be able to help.

Hi Ann,

You could try:

Midlothian Local Studies

Local Studies
Library Headquarters
2 Clerk St
Loanhead  EH209DR

Phone: 0131 271 3976
Email: localstudies[replace with 'at' symbol]@midlothian.gov.uk

From info I've seen they are supposed to have a large collection of cemetery records

Have both indexes and willing do to look-ups.

Elaine

Hi
My ancestor, Martha Hislop, died Sep  7 1832 at Adamsrow, Newton, Midlothian, Scotland. Her husband was John Penman - he died after her. Would he be in the Newton index?
I'm also wondering if there are many Sommerville/Somerville listed in either index?

Thanks,
Eugene
