Does anyone know where Rosedale Terrace, Ross-On-Wye was?
« on: Friday 14 November 08 12:59 GMT (UK) »
Just discovered that when my Nan was christened on 5.7.1909 in Ross-on-Wye, that the family lived at 12, Rosedale Terrace in the town. Does anyone know where this was, as I can't find it anywhere?

(The family lived at 31 Over Ross st in Ross previous to Nan's christening and again with later children)

If you can solve this mystery I'd be very pleased.

just a thought - was Rosedale Terrace simply a block of buildings in Over Ross Street?

Hi Netti,
Thanks for your reply. I guess it could be.....does anyone know? Is there anywhere (free please!) on the Net where I can view an old map of Ross with street names?

Netti,
Thant's great thanks. Just had a quick look before the mad dash for tea, and found the Mission Rooms where my great grandad was a sidesman, so thank you for that :)

Hi not sure if this helps, if you look at the link given of Old Ross
http://www.ross-on-wye.com/index.php?page=ross_510-Over_Ross_Street
you see the photo Looking north up Over Ross Street and put that on the left of bridge House you have the right hand side of the road looking up from the railway line, the railway bridge has now gone but if you look at the photo looking north up over ross you can see some wooden railings / fence, there use to be a row of small cottages here they were pulled down in the 70s but cant remember what they were called. but there is a lady who would tell you  Mary Sinclare she works at the Ross Heritage Centre Tel: 01432 260675
E-mail: herefordmuseums@herefordshire.gov.uk. there is very little Mary doesnt know on Ross

dlerego,
I have been in touch with Mary Sinclaire and she has been really helpful. Although we haven't as yet found Rosedale Terrace, Mary has been able to pass on a copy of an old map of Ross, showing where my grandmother was born, and even better, a photo of the street and very house!
So many thanks for putting me onto Mary.
