Reason for Discharge

How would I go about finding out the actual reason for Discharge as defined by :-

A.O. 265/17 2B1

on a MiC ?

I think you'll find it is one of the "unfit for service due to wounds received"....

Does the MIC mention a SWB??

Newf is there anything else mentioned such as "list" ?

Chap enlisted Jun 1916, discharged Jun 1918 - the MiC isnt the format I've seen before - The Medals 'box / grid' is stamped on, and looks like only the Victory medal  ... either that or the British Medal is the same Roll and Page as Victory.

I believe the SWB was sometimes on another card ?

List ? Yes - List 0/1874/1

He was in 3 Regiments, believed underage, got a 'blighty', later gassed, ended up in the Labour Corps

Sounds like its the MIC for SWB...It has date of enlistment and discharge,medals in a satamped area with written insert and the "List " annotation will be searchable but only at Kew it wont really give you much more than you already have.

No worries - altho it does look like the Victory Medal is the one with a Roll/Page and British is dittoed.

Twas the reason for discharge we really wanted, but if generic 'unfit', that would seem to fit the fact that he was gassed. Just wondered if the '2B1' para might amplify.

After "asking a friend" the answer i got was 2(Served after 1917) B (Soldier as opposed to Officer) 1(i) served overseas.
The SWB roll may state W or S wounds or sickness as reason.

Virtually the same as the AO 265 of 1914 which it superseded...Just that the SWB had come in by then...
