So this would be the family entry for 1851 in Durham :

William Smith 37, carpet weaver, b. Scotland
Hellen Smith 36, b. Scotland
George Smith 8, b. Scotland
Francis Smith 3, b. St Oswald, Durham, England

HO107; Piece: 2390; Folio: 302; Page: 14

The problem with finding them in 1841 is that we don't know what children they had at that time to be able to verify that we have the right household. George looks to have been born after the census in 1841, and no children show in 1851 born before him.

An 1841 search in Aberdeen brings up a few households with a Helen and William showing but hard to tell, given no relationships are given in that census, whether they are husband and wife or children of the older Smiths showing in the household  :-\

If you have a search on FreeCen (100% coverage now for Aberdeen) and search for a Hel* Smith (less common name than William) in her age range you can see these household.
