I have been unable to find Service Record for Ernest Mills but in a letter it states "Service with the Colours" 21.3.15 - 25.6.19 as he was ASC  does that refer to a Regiment?

Hi,

ASC = Army Service Corps.   I've found a few ancestors in that in WW1.

How did you do that as from all the questions I have asked  I thought that ASC were assigned and that is why I asked question re The Colours.

Hi,

ASC was the only detail on their surviving papers.  Not seen any reference to "The Colours"  though.   :-\

"Service with the Colours" is a generic, official, term for military service, not restricted to any particular regiment
