Hi

How can you find out if WW1 medals reached any recipient
My gt uncle George Cocks won DCM, and Victory and British War Medals.

He was in Lancs fusiliers at time of the award

It MIGHT be annotated on MIC if medals were not delivered for whatever reason.
The recipients if KIA is usually in his Service record if it survives and sometimes on a MIC if requested but thats more often officers who had to request all there medals ORs had them sent to their last known addreses

Retd and a Kings Regs number

Really medals should have gone to Fiancee who later had his baby and but according to the laws and morals of the times probably should have gone to parents

Looks like the Campaign Medals at least were returned :(

The DCM however may have been presented.It would more than likely be on a seperate MIC.
Theres probably his citation on London Gazette online if you havent already got it.

No-one knows where the medals went and I just wondered.


The DCM MIC doesn't say anything about the medal
