Barming Heath Hospital
« on: Tuesday 18 November 08 10:46 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if the cemetery for the old Barming Heath Asylum in Kent still exists or has it been built on?

If I know a plot number [5327] belonging to an inmate who passed away in 1932 are there still records available that would enable me to locate his grave.

Kentish Archives, Maidstone Council and the local NHS say that they have no record.

This site says that the ground has been partly sold for development, the rest now houses Maidstone Hospital.        www. historic-kent.co.uk
National Archives say that records are kept at the centre for Kentish Studies.
Best wishes....Iris :)

Hi Allotment

I don't know if you have had success with this but, if not, somebody is offering to photograph the cemetery though not clear if they are prepared to look for individual graves http://www.kenthistoryforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=3404.0
