Ann LINES nee CRANE
« on: Tuesday 18 November 08 13:39 GMT (UK) »
Please can you help me "over a hump", so as I can search for ancestors beyond my great grandmother, Ann Crane / Lines.

I'm looking for the birth of Ann CRANE, my great grandmother, who I understand was born around 1852 in either St. Pauls Walden, Herts, or in Bendish, Herts.  I'm asking this so as I can find the name of her parents and so then be able to try to  follow her line back.

Also her marriage to my great grandfather Alfred George LINES (I think, known as George).  Alfred George Lines was born in 1852, in Sandridge, Herts.  I think they must have married between 1871 and 1881, because the census shows him in 1871 as single and 1881 as married, working and living as a servant at Turners Hall Farm, Wheathampstead, Herts.  In 1881 Ann was in the workhouse.

If anyone can help me with Ann's birth.....her marriage.....and the name of her parents, I'd be so very grateful.  Many thanks in advance.

Hi Londoner,

Here's a possible for Ann in 1861:

RG9/821 56 7
St Paul Walden, Hertfordshire

Susannah Crane, head, mar, 33, Platter, b. Paul Walden
Sarah, dau, 15, Platter, b. do.
Samuel, son, 11, b. King Walden
Anne, dau, 9, b. do.
Elizabeth, dau, 7, b. Beds Cardington?

Hi Londoner

I have moved your post over from Herefordshire to Hertfordshire.  I think that I have found Ann's marriage.

LINES, George, Aged 20 TO Ann CRANE   Aged 20
Married 24 Aug 1872, St Peter, Saint Albans
Husband's Father - John LINES
Wife's Father - George CRANE

Rick :)

WOW, Rick and Tati......THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH.

The information looks pretty positive, doesn't it.  I'm SO pleased and thank you both a million.

Kindest regards.

P.S.  I'm so sorry Rick that I made a slip and put this request into Hereford, instead of Herts.  Apologies.
