pension and service records

my granfather  died on the somme  3 sept 1916.
would my granmother have recived a pension?if so i  cannot findthe record.
also there is no service record.could some kind person help an old soldier out.?

do you have a DoB and Place ?

Ancestry say they have loaded Service Records up to 'N' - but of course, only about 40% survived the WW2 blitz - which is why its good to have the Pension records, but again I dont think thay are all yet uploaded ? also can be mistranscriptions ....
