Hello Sandy
The only thing I know about George is from Sarah's marriage cert and that he was a woolcomber. Sarah was "off full age".
In '41 Sarah is 20 in Woodford but "N" entered into the column for "Whether born in same County".
'51 she is 30 and born Bedworth, Warwick.
'61 she is 40 and born Collecroft, Warwick.
'71 she is 50 and born Colecraft, Warwick.
'81 she is 60 and born Colly Croft, Warwick.
Colleycroft does not appear to have had a church but I've checked the nearby parishes of Chilvers Coton, Bulkington, Walsgave on Sowe, Exhall and Astley. I've also checked Bedworth and Coventry.
There were several Richards families in Collycroft/Bedworth in 1841, one particular unmarried lady called Sarah Richards age 40. In '51 still unmarried living with her sister Mary and brother-in-law. Missing in '61. Living with her brother John in '71 and still single. I believe Sarah, Mary and John to be the children of Joseph Richards and Elizabeth Bell, all baptised Bedworth.
A George Richards married Ann Suffolk in 1804 in Bedworth. They had a son, John in 1805. I can find no other children for George & Ann.
If Sarah was illegitimate and not a Richards at birth then I wouldn't know where to start looking for her.
I've been picking this one up and putting it down for a few years now, but I still feel there is a link with the Woodford Richards.
The only other thing I have to go on is that Samuel & Sarah's first child, a son, was baptised GEORGE Samuel so the name George must have had some significance. I can't find a George in Samuel's family so it must have come from Sarah's family and I don't believe a first son would have been called George if Sarah had made up her father's name for her marriage cert.
Thanks for hanging in there Sandy.
Regards
Jamys
