Hi,

Are you sure of the details here?

Fenwick and Hannah Pescod have a daughter, Hannah, aged 12 in 1861.  They are living in Sunnybrow though Hannah was born in Thistleflatt

The only Hannah Pescod of the right age and birthplace in 1861 is this one

John Pescod, H, M, 39, Brickmaker, Swalwell
Ann, W, 44, Hetton
George, son, 12, Bitchburn
John, son, 8, Crook
Jane Ann, dau, 6, Sunnybrow
Hannah, dau, 4, Sunnybrow

Living in Helmington Row

Which, if either, of these is the right one?

Cheers

Hi,

The only way to be sure you have the right person is by starting from what you know and working backwards.  Fenwick Pescod is with the other two daughters on censuses but he does not appear to have a daughter, Hannah, of the right age.  His Hannah is ten years older.  There are several possibilities - her age is recorded wrongly on 1881 census, the other two are not really her sisters, she could be Sarah and wrongly recorded as Hannah (Fenwick has daughter Sarah of about right age).  There are quite a lot of PESCODs around in Durham so if you cannot pinpoint the right one it might be impossible to sort out.  If you guess at the right one it's highly likely it will be wrong!!
Have you any certificates?

Cheers
