Loughgilly Murrays
« on: Tuesday 18 November 08 22:56 GMT (UK) »
I believe Murray was a pretty common name in the early 19th Century. Im looking for a history of the name in this area of Ireland, i.e. how did Murray's come to Ireland if they are normally associated with Moray in Scotland - What tartan would this be associated with? Family crest of arms etc.

More specifically i've traced my ancestors back to Loughgilly (Owen Murray b. 1815 married Ann Kelly b.1817) - I need to back-trace further but the records are sparse. f anyone knows anything about the family name I will be most grateful.

Thanks Kindly... John Murray
