Hi Tommy and Monica

Could I just chip in my tuppence-worth on this resurrected thread and help you with a couple of addresses to keep your records accurate?

19 October 08 post for:

1881 Census:
James Hamilton 29, joiner, b. Edtown of Bdgine, Fifeshire ... Coaltown of Balgonie

20 November 08 post for:
1841 Census:
Address: Windy Wallets, Nwwburgh Fife ... Windy Walls, Newburgh

Sorry I can't help with any other stuff!

Regards

Chiad Fhear

Thanks for that Chiad Fhear  :) As you can tell, addresses are from the transcripts with all the associated problems on accuracy of spellings  ::)

Hi Monica

hope you are well. As you can see Diane is the grandaughter of John Bews Hamilton, I am sure my grandmothers brother. I have left my email address for her to get in touch, how do you send a PM on this site?

kind regards

Tommy

Hi Tommy

I did see, isn't that great  :) Certainly looks a strong possibility.

Re sending a PM, just click on the small green scroll under Diane's name on the l/h side, this will take you straight through to the Private Messages area (you can also click on her name and it will take you through to her profile and the link to the PMs from there). Works very much like an email account with inbox/outbox. If you look at the top of the main screens, it has Welcome back, xxxx, you have xx messages, xx new. If you click on that at any time you can get through to your PMs at any point.

Diane needs to have posted at least 3 posts on the main forums before she can answer by PM, but if she is picking up your email address, she can email you then direct.

Hope you have lots to share  :)

Hi Tommy.  My grandfather, John Bews Hamilton, died in 1919 and is buried in Everett, Massachusetts with my grandmother, Helen Orr Robertson Bowie Brown Hamilton.  My sister has corrected me concerning my grandmother's name.  She must have married a couple of times, unbeknownst to me.  She died in 1964.  I believe Grandfather's father was James Hamilton and his mother was Eliza Bews.

My grandmother, (they also called her "Nellie") was the daughter of Thomas Bowie and Williamina I. Robertson of E. Parish, Greenock.
