The last chap is not an Essex...He's a Northampton!!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

As for the x2 bandsmen...Not convinced that they are Essex either...

(the band "wings" confirm bandsmen...but as we cannot see the trade badge, they may be drummers esp as the older one has marksman badge!)

Could we have a close up of the collars and shoulder titles pse???

Thanks for all these bits of info....I really am trying to learn!

Pah!  I was told he was an Essex...hmmm.  Oh well, Northampton is where I live, so he's still close to home!

Will have to get my dad to rescan the close up sections...will do that as soon as I can.

I have an Ancestor Edward Warner 55461 who was in 14th Bn Machine Gun Corps (Inf).  He's at Pozieres.  I know about him, yet he's another one I don't have a picture of.

Thanks again,

Emma ;)

Ahhhh...Northamptonshire...Actually my ancestral home! My dad was born in Coton (and was in the Regt!), and I was born at the Barrett.

Seahall on here has loads of int on the Northamptonshire Regt (30,000 + soldiers!!) and I have quite a bit...Most of my family served in the Regt, and I was previously in the 2nd Royal Anglian!!

There is also another chap on here who does Northamptons as well....

Just  a  thought Emm...And a long shot....

Have you thought about putting the Steelback into what was the Alan Burman column in the Chron?

Perhaps someone may claim him...

Isn't it amazing how things get taken out of all portion.

No I don't I have a list of 30,000 Northamptonshire Regt Medals Card.

Also lots from the Northampton Independent on various Northampton Folk from both World Wars.

My real sons (2) were both born at The Barratt Maternity Home too.

I am always willing to help if I can yet there are many more experienced people
on Rootschat who you can see from above posting know how to assist you Emma
much better than me.

I am still at the learning stage on most things connected with the 2 World Wars.
