It's not quite as simple as that! I have an ancestor, William Ashworth, b. 1812, Manchester (according to 1851 census). He died 1860. Assuming he could add his age correctly and the one entry of birthplace is correct, the most obvious christening would be Robert and Elizabeth Ashworth, Jan 1812 (IGI. However I would love to confirm this. I can find no entries of siblings in the 1841 or 1851 census, nor is there any other evidence about Robert and Elizabeth (except that the last child, Ann, b. 1816, had father Robert listed as a dyer. Of the 10 possible siblings, I would expect there would some record of them. Hence my idea of checking burials.
William was a spinner who lived in Ancoats. He married Mary Morris in 1833, witness Jane Ince. Mary hailed from the Lomax Street area. Mary's parents, Charles and Susannah, lived in Munday Street in the 1820's as did a Thomas Ince, printer. William Ashworth, wife Mary, and Charles Morris were in Love Lane area of Ancoats in the 1840's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
