Hi K,

Broomhouse is on the West of the city beside Stenhouse and going towards the airport.  It is now a rather large housing estate.  It proabably was a large agricultural estate belonging to a landowner.  Edinburgh is a city made up of all the villages that existed before the city grew and grew.  I dont know much about it as I belong to the South and latterly the east of the city.

Hope this is helpful

HI K
if you want to see where Broomhouse was, go to the National Library of Scotland website - www.nls.uk . Then select Collections, Maps, view maps and County Maps, then Midlothian.  From the menu offered select Ordnance Survey One Inch 1898 -1904 and then select Sheet 32 -Edinburgh. This particular map shows the diffrent parishes in different colours.  On that map you should easily be able to find the large pink area that is the City of Edinburgh.  Move to the left into Corstorphine Parish which is in green.  Follow the railway line into Corstorphine and you will find Broom Ho near a point where the map shows 3.9 in large figures.  Sorry I don't know anything about the place - it looks like a small farm - but perhaps someone with a specialist knowledge of the local history of Corstorphine could help.
Regards
Jessie

Broomhouse was recorded from 1599 onwards as part of the lands of Saughton.   The mansion was west of Broomhouse Road, on the site occupied by St. Augustine's School.   A new school is being built on the same site and the image is attached.
