Can anyone identify this button?
« on: Sunday 23 November 08 16:13 GMT (UK) »
I have attached a photo of a close up of a button taken from my great grandfather.
It's possible he served in Yorkshire (west Yorks Regiment or West Riding Regiment) but could equally have served in a regiment based further south.
He was married whilst in Wombwell in 1904 but later lived and died in Edmonton North London.

The photo gives no real clues to his regiment as it shows no other badges or a hat or anything.
There is a noticable medal which suggests he served in the 2nd Boer war also, but this is definitely a WW1 photo.
I know it's a long shot but you never know...

His name was Henry (aka Harry) Willis by the way.

Cheers
Rob
