Lookup request for Denbighsire Hussars
« on: Tuesday 25 November 08 13:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying (without success) to locate any records relating to a Joseph Jordan (b. 1893) who might have been in the Denbighshire Hussars during WW1. We have two photos of a soldier in both ordinary and dress uniform which I'm told are the uniform and badge etc of the aforementioned regiment and which I suspect might be of Joseph, based on family likenesses etc.

Any help would be great thanks.

Hi Annie,

Thanks. Here are the photos are requested. I’m sure that these two soldiers are the same person…look at the left ear!

Unfortunately, none of the names listed were the ones I was expecting. I’m searching for the surname Jordan, based on the side of the family the photos came from and likenesses as I said. I’ve already searched for the surname Manion in the past, but I’m fairly certain it’s not that line anymore having established that there aren’t any potential suspects within my tree.

Sorry to intrude but you did mention Denbighshire  :)

I think that the photos are definitely of the same man. Not only are the ears the same but look at the eyes, hair line and chin/jaw.

OK Paul ... these are the ones listed in A* for Denbighshire Hussars .... none of these are Jordan either .....  :P the only other thing I can think of is ..... my Granddad changed regiments mid stream in WW1 .... I was looking for Prince of Wales Volunteers and he was in the Rifle Brigade !!  :D ...
so ... my suggestion to you is ... if you have any birth marriage or death certificates for him and his family ... check and see if it mentions his regiment at all ! you never know !!  :)
