Catherine McLaughlin's Parents - Completed

The trouble with that is that without the marriage certificate you do not know that you have the right birth certificate.   Ecneps gave you one possible birth but I noticed there was another Catherine McLaughlin born a year or so later - how can you be sure which one you want?
Don't think his maths is up to much if he is estimating a father aged 16!   Guesstimates are no good in this game sadly!
Do you have a death date for Catherine Doran?   That might give an age which would help narrow down the birth.
Sorry to be nit picking but you may well be chasing the wrong line which would be annoying.

You're not nit picking, just being thinking logically. I understand your point very clearly. I'm just stating the information I been given.
However, I do recall Catherine Doran died around 1978 in Hebburn, as I attended her funeral.

Oh good as that death fits with the 1904 birth.  Still doesn't help find the parents though!

A Bridget Halloran was born 27th December 1864 and baptised at St Bede's, Jarrow the daughter of Michael Halloran and Mary Roach. In the September quarter of 1885 Bridget Halleron (sic) is in the GRO marriage indexes R.D. of South Shields, also on the same page are John Brown and Alexander Eadie so perhaps Charles McLaughlin was Bridget's second husband in which case Halloran would not have been her surname when she married Charles.

That would make Bridget 40 when Catherine was born.   Possible I suppose and certainly worth thinking about.

Aged 39 actually if Catherine was born in April, Bridget would not be 40 until the end of December.
