Hi

You can't search by address on Ancestry but the 1901 census on the PRO website is searchable by address but you have to pay to view any info

www.1901censusonline.com

If you know he married Mary Ann Strong (or did he - see below) then a copy of the marriage cert will show his age and his fathers name and occupation

This is from your previous post on the Prices - Barnes or Strong??

my great grandad was thomas price too married to mary ann barnes in manchester

I`ve finally resolved it......
Thomas Price ,24, married Mary Ann Stone, 22, at St Stephens Church Hulme Manchester 6/12/02...according to the wedding certificate Thomas`s father was called John ( bricklayer ) and Thomas was married from 21 Lord Street Hulme.
I know they had a son on 13/2/06 also called Thomas at 14 Camden St Hulme, Manchester....
Thomas PRICE married in 1902 was dead by 1926.
I cannot find Thomas ( married 1902 ) in the 1901 census....i have found a family of Price`s in 1891 census living in Hulme with a father called John , also bricklayer, and a wife Winifred with sons Thomas, 12 yrs,  and John.... should i take it that this was the father of Thomas who wed in 1902????
Just cant work out why i cant locate them in 1901 census..any ideas ???

I can tell you that 21 Lord Street, Hulme was unoccupied on the 1901 census.

Hi

If Thomas was 24 when he married in 1902 he was born around 1877/78
Have you tried to find him on the 1881 census which is free to search at www.familysearch.org

How do you find out that an address was not occupied ( 21 lord st ) on 1901 census ???  I subscribe to ancestry.co.uk and can`t do this search..

CAROLE W
I found that entry too....it appears very likely but how would i confirm that this is the same family...its in exactly the right area...

Dont use the search boxes - go straight to the 1901 census, scroll down, click on county - then look for your Civil Parish - clicking on that will produce a list of EDs, click each Enumerators Page to review the streets he did - then click the actual district link (next to Enum's page link) and trawl thru.

sometimes you can get a head start by using the www.1901censusonline.com Address search option, which wilol show you the Ward and Ecclesiastical Parish .... the Ancestry Districts are listed in E.Parish order  :)
