« on: Wednesday 26 November 08 22:34 GMT (UK) »
I hav e posted this in Cheshire- not sur which it should be in.

My Grandfather had this occupation on my mother's birth certificate. Any ideas to get service record or any further information, so I can build up a bit of a picture of his service life.
Thomas George Green born about 1888
Died 1st December 1976 aged 92
Married Ruth Woodey

Thanks in anticipation

The Service Records for the surnames A - N i think have been scanned and are on Ancestry.co.uk . But you have to be a subcription member. And not all records for those surnames are there.

Where was he born?

i can take a look to see if there is a record and can direct you to the link.

Thanks Celia & Gary
I have posted on Cheshire as well, I wasn't sure where it should go. No replies anyway on Cheshire.
I am picking up my GGs death cert up tomorrow and this will tell me if he was born in Warrington or not. So I will have a bit more to work on then.
