I'm not sure if this family is related to me in anyway but when I was searching for deaths of a Patterson in my family this one came up in the searches.

1941 PATTERSON ELLEN   PINKERTON TAYLOR F 71 DENNY AND DUNIPACE /STIRLING

sounds a lot like the one you posted earlier..

In loving memory of THOMAS PINKERTON died 15th July 1936 aged 66 years
Also his wife HELEN PATTERSON died 12th January 1941 aged 72 years
And their son WILLIAM died 1st February 1976 aged 75 years

Just incase anyone else is looking for this person.

Hi Anne, Can I ask if you have come across any Laing people in the Denny cemetary?  Thomas laing & Margaret Russall married in 1752 but I do not know when they died.  I believe they are parents of   James laing born 1755 Denny died 1834 Torryburn, Fife.  However if he appears in Denny with the above parents it will prove if he is mine or not.

Thanks Evelina

Hi Evelina,

Denny Cemetery wasn't established till the late 1870's - much too late for that particular generation. There are a few Laing stones, they are:

1.
Marion Laing wife of James McGregor born c1807, died 1883

2.
Margaret Laing wife of John Borthwick born c1825, died 1907

3.
Isabella Laing wife of James Adam born c1842, died 1918

4.
William Laing husband of Grace Russell born c1857, died 1879

I also checked the pre-1855 MI books which have Dennyloanhead Churchyard and Denny Churchyard but no Laings in any of them. There's nothing to say there are no Laings actually buried there, just that there are no existing stones.

Sorry!

Anne
