George Hunter Anderson - again
« on: Thursday 27 November 08 21:12 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find some info on this elusive ancestor.

He marrried Eleanor Godefroy Boullen in Oct 1844 at St John's in Newcastle, occ Gentleman's servant, of full age, address St Andrew's parish, father George (deceased), an "Officer".  Eleanor was about 30 years old.
His 1st daughter, Mary Jane may have been christened at Matfen in 1845.  His 2nd and 3rd daughters, Sarah Eleanor and Georgina Harriet were baptised at St John's in Dec 1848 and April 1851.  On both occasions, the address is Elswick Villas and his occupation is still servant, but I cannot find any of the family there in 1851 census.  (There is a Thomas Anderson at West Elswick Villa, but as I know nothing more about George, I don't know if that is a relative or not).  By 1859, his wife and daughters are in Manchester, but George never reappears in subsequent censuses.
Has anyone any suggestions please?

Dear Inicky,

Thanks for looking, I have Eleanor and girls in 1861,1871,1881, girls marriages in 1873,1874 1876 and Eleanor's, Sarah's and Georgina's deaths.  It's flipping George, his birthplace and birthdate and death I'd like to find.  On the girl's marriage certs, he is described as a Gentleman....whatever that might mean in the circumstances!
