Hi - have just read your query and responses re R.A.F. Shropshire, in researching an item which has recently come into my possession! A small silver plated trophy (a cup, but with no stand)  of 12.5cms height 6cms max. diameter,  engraved to the front as follows: R.A.F. SEALAND V SHREWSBURY 1925. I wonder if this information may be of interest to you, in reference to the location of the latter base, it's date of closing, and the subsequent date of your family photo?

Thank you very much for that.  Unfortunately my problem at the moment is that the photo has been misplaced with a box of other items in a moving process and until I find it I'm very much going on memory.  Note to all Rootschatters : scan your old photos etc. so you have another copy. 
As soon as this turns up (which I'm hoping it will) I will scan the picture and details to this site and we can go from there.  Thank you again daisyfwillliam for that.  I look forward to getting the details soon.
