« on: Sunday 30 November 08 06:19 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

Not sure if this has been mentioned before,  but have just found that Anc***  has Australian Convict Transportation Registers online,  from  1791-1868,  has original papers,  seems to give,  name,  where convicted,  dates,  and term of sentence...

Hi Daisi,

If you look at the State Library of Queensland site http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/info/fh/convicts  you will see that they also have 126,000 convicts listed, all for free.  Adding to this the Irish Gift for Irish convicts  http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/transportation/search01.html  and the Western Australian convict site http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/shipsWA.html nearly all 168,000 odd convicts are covered, except the ones that swam of course ;D ;D ;D

It was my free settlers that swam, or were teleported here - in the 1870s Andcarred, convicts got a place on a ship  ;D

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth
