Hi Monica.
Oh well, it was just a shot in the dark, but it wouldn,t surprise me if there was a baby born in that period, they seemed to be very fertile in those days. And pretty consistant with the naming pattern.

Have just put a posting on the Tech. board asking for help with GENOPRO. Keep you fingers crossed.

Mary.

It may also be worth trying poor relief archives. William and Barbara could have applied either before or after being in prison. Also Barbara's parents, Robert and Mary, may have applied, for extra income, when they were looking after their grandchildren, William and Mary. There may be details on those of what crime they committed ... hopefully nothing too serious! ::) ;)

Hi Hume.
That sounds like a good idea. Is there a site for this you know of, or shall I just google it.

I don,t suppose they could have done anything too serious as it didn,t look like they were incarcerated too long.
I,m glad you two found all this info before I got to see the tree on Genopro. There was quite  lot of errors and there was next to nothing about Williams siblings. I,ll be very carefull about what I use and will try to get cert, to back it up,

Mary

Hi Mary,

The Mitchell Library in Glasgow holds a lot of the poor relief books for each parish. I think they have them indexed too. Although you may get a look-up through e-mail or telephone, I think you need to arrange a visit to order the documents. Or there might be some kind person visiting who could do that for you. :)

Just checked an e-mail I received a while ago from the archives and I am mistaken. ::) You can get documents sent to you rather than having to visit.

I contacted the e-mail address on this page and got a reply. It had several poor law entries for my ancestors and info on how to order the documents.

"If you are unable to visit we can arrange to copy the entries and post them to you, for a charge of £10.30 per application. To proceed with a copy order you should please complete, sign and return the attached order form. You can pay either by sending cheque payment made payable to 'Culture and Sport Glasgow' or by credit/debit card by completing and signing the attached payment form."
