Hi Mum44

Thanks for what you have found out. :D  Its amazing.  I think the farm was Knightsbridge View  not Knights View.

If you could go back i would love to know, but if it is hassle then not to worry, I have, thanks to your hard work found out about my family.

Do you know of any way that I can find out if there are any descendents (other than myself) still living.

Margaret  ;D

Headley is still in Hampshire   -  is it   :-[    I stand corrected    8)

Anything in there about Knightsbridge Farm ?     The Knightsbridge Drive in Headley was the only reference to the name in the area I could find  ???

Now discovered Hillsden, Oxford Street was in Speenhamland

Sally married a George Webber, ...

Hillsden in now part of the Chequers Hotel - in 1906 & 1911 (Cosburns) the tenant was named Mrs Webber, in 1906 it is shown as a boarding house.

Heads Hill is, roughly speaking, the area, part of Greenham parish, now occupied by New Greenham Business Park (the built up part of the old RAF Greenham Common); it is quite likely that the house you seek has been demolished. Knightsbridge View Farm may be related to Knightsbridge House just over the county border in Hants from Heads Hill (and hence in Headley). At a guess I would say the the bridge at the bottom of the hill going south from Greenham Common on the A339 is Knights Bridge and house and farm are named after it. I've driven over it hundreds of time but had not thought of its name before now.

My own Allen interest is in Peter Allen, brewer and beerseller at the New Street Tavern, Cheap St, Newbury in the 1860s. Part of my interest in Newbury pubs - not part of my family history.

Hi Margaret  ;)

Well, I've found Henry with his parents :  They were Anthony Allen and Lucy Hughes  :)

But to make it easier to follow,  I'll go back one census at a time, so  -  you already have 1901 and 1891;  here's 1881

1881
RG11. P. 1268  Fol. 41  Pg. 9

The Common Cottage, Greenham

ALLEN
Henry  Head  M  38  Farmer  B.  Thatcham
Sarah  Wife  M  38
Thomas  Son  14    Farmer's son
Alice  Dau  12
Edward  Son  10
Henry  W  Son  8
Elizabeth  Dau  6
Sarah  Dau  4

There are additional children here  :)  Edward was not the eldest  :)
