Hi Jamajo

I know that Arthur married Hilda, and had 3 children but no other details.  William sadly died at a young age, he had pernicious anaemia (think thats how its spelt).

Hi Margaret  -  There are a number of Allen families living in the Crookham Common area on the 1901 census -  so far I haven't found a Fred or a Bessie - but I'm still looking.

Bessie may be a nick or family name  -  we shall see ;)

Do you have Fred's birth certificate to hand, to be able to tell us who the informant was ?

I dont have Frank's birth certificate to hand although I do have a copy here.  His baptism record says he was baptised on July 7, born May 29  1907, It states his christian name as Frank Allen  his parents as John & Bessie Cope  abode Shaw House Stables.  profession  Coachman..   Frank was brought up by Bessies father whose surname was Allen.  It gets very complicated.

Margaret -

I'll try and find a family in the Crookham area which might be the one you need -   I just wondered whether the informant was John himself or perhaps another member of Bessie's family - with a first name showing   :D

Hi Mum 44

I seem to remember that Bessie was the informant on the birth certificate.  There appears to be a great deal of confusion regarding Franks surname.  From his baptism record it looks like his surname should have been Cope.  His marriage certificate to Annie, however has his surname as Allen.  All my maiden records are with my name as Allen.  If you could find out anything  I would be very grateful and interested.

Thanks for your help with this.

Margaret

Hi Jamajo

I am grateful for any information regarding my families history.  Unfortunately my late mother did not tell me any details regarding her side or my fathers side of the family.  I hope to be able to gather as much information as possible so that I can have a detailed record to pass onto my 3 grandchildren.  I do not want them growing up not knowing about their roots.  My father did not  talk to me about his family, I feel that there may have been some embarrasment about his childhood,  either that or he found it very painful to talk about.

Thank you for all your help.

Margaret
