morgan family - rhymney merthyr look ups please

Hi, i am trying to find out about my great gran who was

Elizabeth Jane Morgan b. 1871 Rhymney

I think i found her in 1881 census at 16 church street, merthyr tydfil.

Details:
                 paul morgan 36 b.rhymney roller in ironworks
                 sarah morgan( would like maiden name) 36 b. rhymney

children:
                  william 17 rhymney hooker in ironworks(maybe born 08/02/1864)
                   Have photo of a william morgan saying 94th bday 8/2/1958

                  george 15 rhymney shearer in ironworks.
                  mary 13 pontlotyn
                  elizabeth jane(my great gran hopefully!) 10 rhymney
                  silas 8 rhymney
                  arthur 6 rhymney
                  thomas 2 rhymney
                  ann 11months dowlais(must have moved, dont know why born elsewhere).

I know elizabeth married my great grandad henry chas. sollars and ann is living with them in bristol in the 1901 census(how i got maiden name, lucky break!)

I really want to know their children as my nan was 1 but been told there were 4 boys 8 girls and only found 1b and 6g cos most born after 1901.

But i also wondered if anyone can tell me why the census has them in mertyr but born in rhymney(is it same parish?) does that mean that they moved and why ann was born in dowlais when they were living in merthyr( same parish again?). Cant find any info on paul but dont know whether should look for merthyr, rhymney, dowlais pontlotyn.

 have also now been given info from 1891 and 1871 so not needed now. thanks to Kris and Pritch. can anybody find anything earlier for me please

1. Dowlais is an area of Methyr (aka Merthyr Tydfil) Glamorgan.
2. Rhymney & Pontlotyn are in an adjacent valley, and are in Monmouth.

The places are within about 5 miles of each other.

thanks for that ss. so that probably means that they moved from rhymney to merthyr sometime before the 1881 census.

I think you've got it right Kev, the family seem to have moved the short distance between Rhymney and Merthyr between the birth of Thomas and Ann.  The 1871 census has them living in Jerusalem Street, Rhymney, parish of Bedwellty.

thanks pritch, its weird cos just found out that had two more kids paul in 1883 also dowlais and john h 1889 back in rhymney!! so maybe moved back again. can you tell me the place of birth for mary in the 1871 census cos i have pontlotyn but just received a post elsewhere with the place of birth for mary rhymney on 1871 census?

1871 census gives Mary's birthplace as Rhymney.
