Look up for Thomas Taylor

Looking for help for a Thomas Taylor born Prestwick 1843. He moved to Maryhill Glasgow. His wife was Helena Currie b. 1846 or 47. They had 4 children, Elizabeth b. 1876, Helena b. 1876, Isabella b. 1884, Edward b. 1886 all in Maryhill, Glasgow.
I would be very grateful for any help you can give me.

had a wee search and found this:

thomas taylor married helena corry on the 29/12/1871 in glasgow.

can only find one son from marriage

john taylor..born 15/10/1872 maryhill.

hopefully some kind soul will see this post and look up the 1871 cenus for them while they were single and then in 1881 when they had more children.

The Marriage and death details for Thomas and Helena will be available at Scotland's People and because after 1855 will contain their parents names. Their births may well be but will be OPR and not likely to contain parents names - tho you may be lucky.

The births, narriages and death certs for all their children will also be on Scotland's People.

However you will need to buy crediuts to view them - minimum is £6 for 30 credits. Each record costs 5 credits to view

Hi Ann I've got 1891 census but mine doesn't have as many names as yours. Can't find birth certificate for him. Got his marriage certificate and got both sets of parents names but can't get anything to do with Helena got her name as both Corry and Currie. Can't get any information on Irish ancestors which is very frustrating as have Irish on both sides of family

Hi Heather

I share your frustration re Irish records. I have loads of em on both sides and is long slow work especially since all of mine pre date the magic 1864 date! But is not absolutely impossible - just extremely slow and frustrating!

I will have a look at what I have re Isish sites and post what might help later on. Need to pop out for a bit.

But one to be going on with is PRONI  - NI equivalent of GROS.

Can you confirm what religion they were because this might affect where to look.

Thanks for that joekar.  details of Thomas' marriage certificate are 29th December 1871 in Maryhill Glasgow father John Taylor  deceased mother Barbara Taylor n.s Taylor. Helena Corry father Edward deceased and mother  Eliza Campbell hope that helps
