They had a son - John born & bapt 1844  BMD Ref Q2 1844 W. Derby 20 925 and who is on the 1891 @ RG12/2970 f/90 p/44

I would love to see if John had any siblings and more info on his parents...

Hi,

This is the one that appeared in the Daily News:

Northern Circuit - Liverpool Aug 16
Crown Court - Before Lord Chief Justice Campbell
ROBBERY OF POST LETTERS
John Morgan and Michael Oldfield were indicted, the former for stealing, at sundry times, and the latter for receiving with a guilty knowledge, a 50l. note, a 20l. note, two 10l. notes, one other 10l. and two 5l. notes, and five other 5l . notes, from various letters posted in the Liverpool post-office, and addressed and directed to various parties.
The guilt of the prisoners was clearly established, and being found Guilty, they were each sentenced to 10 years transportation.

I think the squiggles at the end of the money represent pounds.  I just tried to type it "as is".  Not sure how it will turn out.

I have since found a longer account in the Liverpool Mercury, but it is far too long to type.  If you PM with your e-mail address I will send it.

Regards,
Mo
