There are two other Crouch families from Catsfield with Methodist baptisms in Hastings in the 1830s:

William & Elizabeth Crouch (wife's parents George & Philadelphia York  )
 and
John & Charlotte Crouch  (wife's parents  Edward & Ann Neigh  )

Deb just had a look at A***y  trees and there is someone who has 10 children for Henry and Sarah. Iam not sure if you have this information.
The children....
Charlotte,Carolyn,Matilda,William,Mary,Anne,Nathan,Jane,Jacoband John.
A look on NSW bdm's confirm there were 2 children born to Sarah and Henry
Jacob 1843 and John 1847.

This is getting really interesting: - if Jacob and John were born in 1847, it means poor old Henry was left with a huge brood of children to look after, because Sarah died in 1847 (and why am I not surprised, after 10 children?!?!).

Additionally, the Wesleyan Methodist connection seems to be something they all embraced later, ... since Henry & Sarah were married in the C of E.  It might also explain why John Delves later became a Methodist lay preacher?

I have to admit, though ... I've looked for Charlotte, and Jane, but can't find their births to the right parents on the IGI (curse the Library for being closed at night!  >:(  ).

ps ... you guys rock!

Edit - I've just noticed, the IGI does seem to have multiple baptisms for Crouches at the Wesleyan Methodist church in Hastings - perhaps the parents converted, and had everybody re-baptised?
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I'm researching: Powell, Tatham, Dunbar, Dixon, Mackwood, Kinnear, Mitchell, Morgan, Delves, & Anderson

Hi Deb

Glad you have found them.  It would appear that they might have been rebaptised.  I looked them up on www.bmdregisters.co.uk and started to come up with them baptised about 1836/37 or at least the couple that I looked at.
