Ah I see what you are saying ShaunJ... they've switched the hardware & staff over to the 1911 beta site for the testing.

That would make sense I guess.  Frustrating if you just wanted to carry on with research on findmypast.com  I wonder if they thought Christmas would be a quiet time?

If they believe that, they ought to try some market research.  From past experience its about the busiest time for most FH connected websites.  Most seem to ground to halt over the Christmas period.  ::) ::)

I wasted my first 30 credits by lookinmg at the wrong Florence Rogers DOH!!

Be very very careful that you have the right family before you click on to view household schedule- those credits don't half vanish fast.

How sure can you be?  how much information is available in the search results before you have to use any credits?

According to latest WDYTYA magazine, 1911 will be released in stages, firstly London followed by English counties, Wales and finally the islands.

I'm hoping Staffordshire will be one of the first counties  :D

Susan  :)

I read that also. Good news as the area I am waiting to look at is....LONDON!  Just got to save up now for the vouchers as when I joined FindMyPast to enable me to see the new Census, we hadn't been told that the subscription would NOT cover the new Census!!! (as has already been covered elsewhere).

Very excited here - I'm expecting all my rellies to be in Staffordshire. If anybody knows whether Tipton and West Bromwich are covered, please post!! :D

Tati, I just tried John Smith in West Bromwich and got results, and John Smith in Tipton and got results for Dudley (is that right?). It looks like you might be in luck!

I found my grandma, and some more distant 3rd cousins, but that's all. Very exciting, though, because if you shell out 30 credits for the original image you get your ancestor's own handwriting, which in my case was my great grandfather!

The beta test ends on 22 December, so presumably Find My Past will go back to normal service over Christmas.

Depends which package you choose  ;)

£6.95 for 60 credits = £0.12 per credit
£24.95 for 280 credits = £0.09 per credit
£49.95 for 600 credits = £0.08 per credit
