26 Feb 1882 Hugh Gracey married Eliza Jane Heron in Shankill Church of Ireland Lurgan. I cannot find a Heron/McPherson marriage. The most likely is a Heron/ Jenkins marriage. This couple had at least seven children

Regards

Hi Kingskerswell,

In looking at Hugh Gracey and Eliza Jane's marriage certificate, there is (something illegible) Rice written after Eliza Jane Heron.  Is there any MacPherson/Rice marriages?
Thanks.

Cassiar, I have just been rereading you posts, and see that you have a Thomas Gracey signing Hugh's death registration.  I think it was probably Ballyhannon which is just outside Portadown, and looking at Griffiths Valuation there is a Thomas Gracey Junior listed living in Knocknamuckly which is about a mile east of Portadown.  Both these Townlands are in Seagoe Parish.  From this I suspect that Hugh's father was  certainly related to the Graceys of Seagoe Parish.  If you knew what church they attended I bet you could find Hugh's baptism in the records.  RosemaryJoan

Hi RosemaryJoan,

On the 1901 census, the denomination is "Irish Church" which I guess is Church of Ireland.

I'm attaching Hugh and Eliza Jane's marriage cert.  It's only a photocopy, so the quality is poor.

Cassiar,  It says 'otherwise Rice'  otherwise is shortened to or'wise.  So she was either widowed or adopted. RosemaryJoan
