Hi Eric, it's good to hear from you again.

On page 166 of Faith W. Finegan's book: A Bit Akin, The Story of a North Craven Farming Family, there is a family tree which shows the descendants of Thomas WOLFENDEN, born 1760/1 at Farr Gill.  He was the youngest son of James and Ellen WOLFENDEN.  Thomas farmed at Sandholmes near Wigglesworth and died in Rathmell at the age of 83.  He was buried at Long Preston on the 14th March 1844.

Thomas married Ann CROFT (b.1755) at Long Preston on the 16th June, 1785.  Ann died at Sandholmes at the age of 65 and was buried at Long Preston on the 19th June 1820.

They had four children: Ellen (1788),  Ann (1790), James (bap. 3 Jan 1793) and Mary (bap. 8 Dec 1799).

James, my great (x 3) grandfather, married Isabella MAUDSLEY at Long Preston on 17 Sep 1814 and they farmed at Ragged Hall, Rathmell.  They had 8 children (7 according to the book), the sixth of whom John (b.1828) was my great, great grandfather, Eric, and he was also your great, great grandfather!

Hi!

John UTTLEY could certainly be the brother of Sarah (my 3 x gt grandmother). How are you connected?
Could you please explain the reference to Patrick?

Arthur Bland 1731 of Haworth was my 5x ggrandfather. Most of the Blands born in Haworth and Stanbury are connected.

Patrick Bronte was curate of Haworth parish church, I've forgotten the exact dates but it was early 1820s to 50s or so, anyone baptised, married or buried there during that time would have his signature on the Parish registers.

Hi all, I know this post is almost 4 years old but I have found that John Uttley & Hannah Bland may have had a son Michael Pickles Uttley. MPU married Eliza Hartley 01.04.1838 at Bradford. Eliza is the daughter of William Hartley tinner and postmaster at Haworth.

Dave: This makes my second connection to your Bland family, the first being Eliza's brother John marrying Susey Bland, niece of  Hannah above, Susey dies without issue. I also have a third Bland connection, Sally Bland, sister of Hannah above, of Nathan & Betty, marries Jonas Binns, these are my 4G grandparents on a different line. I could probably come up with a fourth relation by marriage through Howker!

Has anyone found where John & Hannah Uttley baptize their children?

Hi Andrew,
I'm still clinging on to my ancestors and following this thread.
The Howker link that you mention is as follows -
John Bland 1798 son of Nathan and Betty (nee Wilman) marries Nelly Howker 1821 Haworth. Their Dau. Susey b 1822 marries John Hartley 1845 Haworth.
There are other possible links via the Wilman families -
Mary Wilman b 1768 married Arthur Bland 1785 Haworth
Susan Wilman 1797 Stanbury married James Bland 1828 Haworth

The baptism records would be interesting in that they might indicate the move from Heptonstall to Haworth.
