Thomas Knott Goodwin 1851 census
« on: Saturday 20 December 08 15:30 GMT (UK) »
Hello All
My gg grandfather was Thomas Knott Goodwin born c1827 Shelve/Shell Mill which apparently is hanbury. I have information about him from 1861-1900. He married Elizabeth Partington in 1853 -just realised I have not sent for his marriage cert which would answer part of my question! I will send for it as soon as I finish this message. Does anyone have access to A****** . They have the 1851 census and hopefully that would give me his parents names?

I know he was a tea dealer and have the info from the London Gazette about the partnership being dissolved but still do not have his parents.

Thanks Thelma  :-*

This family is in St Martin, Worcester, although the ages don't fit quite as well.

1841  HO107/1209/10
John Goodwin, 45+, miller
Sarah G, 40+
John G, 21, miller
Ann G, 17
Thomas G, 16
Eliza G, 12
Harriet G, 11
George G, 7
Frederick G, 6

Added later: I hadn't spotted the Shelve Mill bit in Tati's post. Ignore this one.

Many thanks for the quick response! The Shell Mill family look good and I have ordered the marriage cert to confirm the father. Looks like a second marriage to me. Something else to investigate.
Thanks again Thelma

Thanks again for the new info.
Yes please Tati. The 1851 info for Maria would be great. I like this side of the family they seem to have become quite affluent  :D which is quite a change for my ancestors. I expect that i should be able to find wills somewhere which would really help.
thanks again Thelma
