Marriage of George STEWART
« on: Monday 22 December 08 01:02 GMT (UK) »
George Stewart son of Alexander and Lyn Stewart, Upholsterer (employed by Stanley McCrae)  of Aberdeen, Scotland,  married Thelma Leslie daughter of Lord Harold Birsay and Lady Birsay,  at St. Andrew's & St. George's Church with a reception at the Roxburgh Hotel.

George was a former pupil of Robert Gordon's College, and they both attended Aberdeen University.

This is my husband's cousin and we have the cutting from the paper but no dates.  Can anyone help me please. ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hi, if it's titled "Upholsterers Son to marry Lord Birsay's daughter" then it's from Aberdeen Evening Express 17 August 1976. :)
HAY - Aberdeen, Shetland, etc.
LEE - Todmorden, etc.
BELSHAW - Farnworth, Bolton, Wigan, Manchester, etc.
ALLINSON - Pontefract, Leeds, etc.

You can look it up on Scotland's People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, but you won't be able to download the certificate because it's less than 75 years ago. You can order a copy to be sent to you.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
