Newlyn East Parish Register VINTON
« on: Wednesday 24 December 08 15:02 GMT (UK) »
I would like details of any records of the VINTON families , including Richard VINTON b 1839 the local blacksmith in the 1871 census and Stephen VINTON B 1801 according to 1841 census. Any information welcome, as my line ends with the census entries at present.

Dorcas VINTON b 1804 and son Samuel b 1844 (ggf) were in the St Columb Major workhouse in 1851 census, where this was exactly and does the building still exist?

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas  :)

I think this may be Dorcas's christening ...she states in 1851 that she was born St enoder ...

from IGI we have:

Dorcas Stephens d/o Richard Stephens and Joan Mullies ...this is submitted
1806 April ...St Enoder

The other is an extracted record
Dorcas Stephens d/o Richd. Stephens and Jane
also 1806  St Enoder

In 1841 Stephen Vinton b c 1801 was NOT born in county ...but married in St Enoder ....wonder where he was born?

deb :)

ps My gggranddad , George Morrish was also in the St Columb workhouse but in 1861 !  :'(

Hi Atrisha,

A Big Welcome to RootsChat and the Cornwall Board  :D

A little more on the Truro Bible Christian Baptisms

VINTON Catherine Dau of Stephen VINTON Lab of St Clement and Dorcas his wife (dau of Richard and Joanna Stephens) born 24 June 1833 and baptised at her fathers house in the aforesaid parish 9 July 1833 by William Kinsman

VINTON Charlotte Dau of Stephen VINTON Lab of Kenwyan and Dorcas his wife (dau of Richard and Joanna Stephens) born 10 Mar 1835 and baptised at her fathers house in the aforesaid parish 25 July 1836 by Thomas Hill

VINTON John Son of Stephen VINTON Lab of Kenwyan and Dorcas his wife (dau of Richard and Joanna Stephens) born 30 Apr 1837 and baptised at her fathers house in the aforesaid parish 4 May 1837 By Thomas Hill

There is a very good St Enoder Site which will help you with further information.
http://www.kernowyon.co.uk/enoder/

The marriage of Richard STEPHENS Yeoman and Joan MULLIES took place at St Enoder 16 July 1791.

(Baptisms for Dorcas and her numerous siblings available on the above site)

Cheers Kris  :)
