This site shows a picture of the houses in the same street. This is what it would have looked like.

If the end houses are not no 5 then it must be pretty close. The houses there still look like that.

Thanks, the family I have been tracing were called Edwards and seem to have been in Priory Hill right through from 1841 until Gertrude marries and puts down number 5 as her address. On the census returns it does not give a number so I'm only guessing that they were at 5 all the time. I could be wrong about that.

Sorry to interrupt, I couldn't help noticing that you were talking about where I lived, well actually it was number 2 that I lived, this would have been roughly from 1985-1989, at the time with my parents.  A lady lived next door(to the right when back is to the cathedral) but sadly passed whilst we were there, and at the time, two local builders were renovating the house to the left.  I am still in touch with the builders and could probably find out a little more information if anything is required.

I was pretty young at the time but remember the builders clearing the garden and finding lots of old glass and trinkets within the over grown grass...this they would pass over the wall to us...fond memories!
I do believe this was the 3rd house then there was the rectory house and yes the 5th building was a garage for many years before being knocked down into houses.

Hope this helps and please feel free to ask anyhting I could ask all family members whom have been in the area for many decades.
Kind regards
