Hello
I have recently discovered that my great, great grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Quarry, born in 1872 in Kingsland, Hackney.  Her father was Joseph Quarry born in 1806 in Elstree Hertfordshire and his father was Pythagoras Quarry born in about 1770.  Pythagoras was also the name of Mary's brother.
I would love to hear from you if you think we could have family in common.

Elizabeth, Welcome to roostchat.

I just had a browse in 18881 census for your Mary Elizabeth & can't see anyone that looks a match. What did jump out at me is the variations of spelling for the surname that seem possible.
Have you looked at the 1881 census for your lot?  It's online and searchable free at family search. Maybe you can see the family.

Hi

There is a Mary Elizabeth Quarry, who is the daughter of Joseph - but she was born 1842. She married Thomas Warren in 1863. Her brother was Pythagoras who married Anna Maria Thorburn.

Mary & Pythagoras had a brother Joseph (born 1840) who married Agnes Johnson in 1867 in the Pancras area of London. On the 1871 census they lived at 83 Peckwater Street, Marylebone. Joseph was a grocer & provision dealer.

My connection to that line is that Pythagoras senior (1770-1856) was my great great great great grandfather.

How have you traced Mary Elizabeth to be daughter of Joseph (1806)?

Regards

Jan

Hello Jan and Charlotte
My apologies for not responding sooner but I wasn't aware of your responses.  I made an error in my original post.  Mary Elizabeth Quarry was born in 1842, not 1872.  I believe she died some time between 1872 and 1881.  Her husband, Thomas Warren, had remarried by then and was in the 1881 census with his new wife.  Her father, Joseph, and his wife Elizabeth were living in St Pancras at the time of the 1881 census.
I wonder if son Joseph and father Joseph were in the grocery business together.
Regards
Elizabeth
